Centre for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore
The behaviour of some of the most elusive particles in the known universe can be simulated using three atoms in a lab, researchers at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore have found.
Principal Investigator Dimitris G. Angelakis and his group members Changsuk Noh and Blas Rodriguez-Lara have devised a scheme that uses the quantum states of three charged ions to simulate the 'oscillations' of neutrinos. The proposal is published in the March issue of New Journal of Physics.
Neutrinos are pesky things to study: they barely interact with matter and have a very tiny mass. Experiments to study them typically use vast detectors to capture neutrinos produced in the Sun or in particle accelerators. Physicists would like more precise measurements than such experiments have so far yielded since neutrino behaviour could provide a first glimpse of physics beyond the current Standard Model.
The new technique simulates the phenomenon known as neutrino oscillation: neutrinos flipping between their three types - electron, muon and tau - as they propagate. (No, the simulation won't help determine whether neutrinos travel faster than light, unfortunately.)
In the scheme, the three neutrino types are encoded in the quantum states of three ions, each having two energy levels. The ions are contained in an optical trap. Additional lasers set the ions vibrating - the vibrations contribute to making the trapped ions behave mathematically like fast-flying particles - and manipulate the ions' energy states. The team hope to collaborate with experimentalists to realise the quantum simulation.
Neutrino oscillations in standard theory are easily calculated; however, the CQT researchers say the simulator could prove useful in exploring more exotic models of neutrino behaviour. The new scheme could also inspire simulations of other types of particles that come in three families such as quarks, the particles that form protons and neutrons, says Noh, the paper's first author.

Do you ever ask yourself why people are nearly always discussing working out? It?s on newspaper covers, radio shows, television programs, in books, and naturally in articles and websites you come across on the web. The completely honest answer is that it?s because being active really does transform your life. We are not meant to be stationary beings; our mind and body are dependent on the impact moving our body has on us.
And, if you?re looking to be more effective in both your professional and your private life, physical activity might possibly be the simple solution you?ve been seeking.
Here are five ways physical activity and business production work together to enhance your production:
1) Physical Activity = Additional Energy
Researchers say dispensing energy by doing regular physical exercise may likely pay off with additional energy over time. As a matter of fact, studies have demonstrated that exercising has an increased effect on energy levels than stimulants found in energy drinks. And it does not have to be a 5 mile jog or 50 laps in the pool to accomplish this increase in energy. Walking can create the energy expansion and rise in productivity you?re seeking.
2) Physical Activity Builds Success
Getting the blood shooting through your veins, supplying your lungs with oxygen and feeling your muscles work hard puts you in harmony with your body. It is invigorating and each step you take, each pound you lose, each lap you swim or mile you walk or run feels like a victory. It helps you produce a standard of success, of controlling your life, overall health and wellbeing that translates into your business and private life.
3) Physical Activity Creates A Positive Mindset
Physical exertion has been demonstrated to produce feel-good hormones. When the above-mentioned hormones are moving through your body, it?s tough to feel anything less than dynamic. You?ll have the positive outlook and assurance you need to move through any job.
4) Physical Activity Curtails Tension
Physical activity and exercise has been proven to not only lessen stress but to help you, your heart and your body, respond better to stress. Stress can induce a huge number of unhealthy byproducts consisting of lethargy, lack of sleep, melancholia, a stressed immune system, impatience, and a feeling of helplessness. Obviously not profitable emotions! Physical activity helps your body react well to stress and essentially diminishes stress so you are more fruitful.
5) Physical Activity Provides Balance
Finally, physical activity means you?re making yourself a main concern. It helps you balance your life and a balanced life is a more fruitful life. Studies have shown that people who take time out of their day to put themselves first, even if it is only for an exercise session, are more productive, more successful and happier.
There is a real explanation why physical exercise is so highly touted. It is because it definitely does work to soothe a number of problems, both mental and physical. If you are lacking energy and feeling unproductive, try adding a bit of physical activity to your daily schedule, and watch your business productivity, and hopefully revenues, soar!

Bolton footballer Fabrice Muamba was still in a "critical condition" in intensive care Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest, a joint statement issued by the club and the London Chest Hospital said.
"As is normal medical practice, Fabrice remains anaesthetised in intensive care and will be for at least 24 hours," the statement added. "His condition continues to be closely monitored by the cardiac specialists at the hospital."
The 23-year-old Kinshasa-born player was rushed to hospital after harrowing scenes towards the end of the first half of an FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday, when the midfielder slumped to the turf with no player near him.
Sunday's statement confirmed Muamba had suffered a cardiac arrest but added his heart had "eventually" started working.
"Fabrice Muamba remains in a critical condition in intensive care in the Heart Attack Centre at The London Chest Hospital," the statement said.
"He was admitted to the hospital yesterday (Saturday) evening after collapsing at White Hart Lane, where he sustained a cardiac arrest during the FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur.
"Fabrice received prolonged resuscitation at the ground and on route to the London Chest Hospital, where his heart eventually started working."
Bolton manager Owen Coyle added: "Fabrice's family have asked me to pass on their thanks for the many, many kind messages of support from not only Bolton fans but also fans from clubs across the country and abroad.
"All our thoughts and prayers are for Fabrice and his family at this time."
Family members visited Muamba in hospital on Sunday but made no public comment.
The Premier League announced Sunday that Bolton's league match away to Aston Villa on Tuesday had been postponed at the request of the Lancashire club, adding "the match will be rearranged at a future date following appropriate consultation with the clubs".
Players, fans and millions of television viewers watched in shock Saturday as paramedics treated Muamba on the pitch before he was carried off on a stretcher after 41 minutes with the scores at 1-1.
Referee Howard Webb called the players off the field and soon afterwards the match was abandoned.
"It was the right decision to abandon the game, everybody was in a state of shock and it wouldn't have been right to carry on," said Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager.
Bolton fans showed their backing for Muamba by placing flowers, scarves and shirts outside the club's Reebok Stadium ground while supporters at Sunday's Premier League match between Wolves and Manchester United honoured him with a minute's applause before kick-off at Molineux.
Meanwhile former Bolton defender Gary Cahill lifted his shirt to reveal a "Pray for Muamba" T-shirt after scoring for Chelsea in their FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester.
That otherwise seemingly fit players could suffer cardiac problems while playing was brought home to the football world by the death of Cameroon's Marc-Vivien Foe during a Confederations Cup semi-final against Colombia in 2003.
And Saturday's incident was not the first time Bolton had seen one of their players laid low by a heart problem.
In 2004, Senegal international Khalilou Fadiga collapsed before Bolton's League Cup tie against Tottenham at the Reebok.
"Unfortunately for us we had this experience where Kally collapsed in the warm-up before the game and his heart had actually stopped," former Bolton manager Sam Allardyce, now in charge at West Ham, told the BBC.
"He was then taken to hospital and monitored and eventually he was fitted with a portable defibrillator, which was fitted under the chest bone so if he wanted to start playing football again, which he did."
Muamba, who moved to England from the Democratic Republic of Congo at the age of 11 after his father fled the war-torn country, has represented England at schoolboy and Under-21 level.

Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri has called on Pakistanis to revolt against their government and military in a video posted on the Internet on Friday, US monitors said.
In a 10-minute speech uploaded to jihadist forums, Zawahiri argued that the Pakistani authorities only represented US interests, according to a statement from SITE Intelligence Group.
Zawahiri, shown standing in front of a green curtain, urged Pakistanis to follow the example of the Arab Spring as the military could not be expected to turn against America despite a deadly US strike on Pakistani troops in November.
"O our brothers in Pakistan! O our people in Pakistan! This treacherous army and bribe-taking government have plundered your wealth," he said in the video.
"They have ruined your economy and destroyed your world as well as your hereafter. What then are you waiting for?
"Take a lead from your brothers in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen and Syria who are standing up against oppression and oppressors with their bare chests exposed and offering sacrifices so that victory may be ordained for then."
Zawahiri also said that unless its demands were met, Al-Qaeda would not release an elderly American development expert who was captured in Pakistan last August.
"By the grace of Allah, we, on our part, have captured the American Jew Warren Weinstein.
"He will not return to his family, by the will of Allah, until our demands are met, which include the release of Aafia Siddiqui, Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman, the family of Shaikh Osama bin Laden, and every single person arrested on allegations of links with Al-Qaeda and Taliban."
Long Al-Qaeda's number two, Zawahiri took over the helm of the group after Bin Laden was killed in May 2011 in a US special forces night raid deep in Pakistan.
The video is the latest of a number in which the militant chief has attempted to exploit the Arab uprisings.
Al-Qaeda has been absent from the popular protests that swept the Arab world last year, leading to the ouster of autocratic, secular leaders in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, and sparking unrest elsewhere.

Are you the type who likes to fiddle around with the inner workings of a gadget? Then X-plore File Manager is an app you'll appreciate. X-plore displays all the files and folders in an Android tablet or phone, and that's only the beginning. Use it to perform file operations like copy, rename, or create new folders. With X-plore, users can access Picasa albums, browse SQlite database files, zip and unzip files, and explore shared folders on Windows servers and PCs. X-plore is a comprehensive tool for digging deep inside Android phones and tablets. Although it exhibits some quirky behavior at times, this fascinating app not only reveals a lot of information about my phone's OS; I can mess around in X-plore for quite some time? it's that captivating.
Installation
X-plore is a free app from the Google Play store (formerly Android market). It requires Android 2.1 (and up) and is currently available in version 2.53.? The total amount of storage it takes up on my Droid 2 is 2.68MB so it's certainly not a space hog. Permissions X-Plore can access once installed include modifying/deleting SD card contents, full Internet access, preventing the phone from sleeping, and using the authentication credentials of an account. There were absolutely no issues with the install process.
X-plore-ing
X-plore opens up into a dual-pane view which allows you to view two folders at once. The advantage of this is that you can move and copy folders from one folder to another. There are three icons displayed on the left-side pane by default: "Root," "LAN," and "Show."
Under "Root" all the system files and folders are displayed in a hierarchal tree view. Expand or collapse the folders and child directories with just a touch. You can also launch a program to open a file. When I tapped an .ogg ringtone file, I had the option of opening the file with one of my Music apps or with X-plore's built-in audio preview. Tap anywhere on the screen, and the preview closes. You can also open other multimedia files and system files.
It's possible, as mentioned earlier, to perform the same file and folder operations with X-plore as you would in Windows Explorer. However, while I was perusing the files directories listed under root, the buttons for "Rename," "Copy," "Delete," and so on remained dimmed and I could not execute any of those operations except for when selected a tmp sub-folder under /data.
The problem seemed to be permissions. After rooting my phone, (disclaimer: I am not advocating the rooting of Android devices) I was able to go do whatever I wanted with those folders and files as Superuser?a power that is to be wielded with much care because one wrong deletion and the OS can get hosed.
I did notice that the app took time to refresh its interface. An example: I connected my phone via USB to a laptop and created a folder on the phone and dropped some files into it. It took about an hour before I could see the newly created folder and files from X-plore. This is even after I exited and went back into the app after adding that folder to my phone. It's a nice app, but could use some sort of "Refresh" button.
The LAN button scans a network for servers and PC. The scan, oddly enough, picked up a server that was no longer physically connected to my network, as well as the live ones. I found it easy to manually add a server or PC and browsing data on those machines from my Droid.
Several options exist for controlling how an app looks or behaves. The "Show" icon lets you choose to show to hide hidden files, the LAN or FTP icons, and Picasa web albums.? More extensive customization is available through "Configuration". It's used to change app permissions, control file zipping and sorting. You can also apply a password to Xplore and change its look via the "Configuration" screen.
Other Features
Although I ran into some quirks with file management and networking scanning, other features such as archiving files and using Picasa worked well. One capability of particular value is the ability to control default application handling--if your Android insists on opening a particular file type with one specific application all the time, you can change the app it uses.
The one feature the developers state the app can do that I could find no way to perform is sharing files. X-plore is touted as capable of letting user share files via Bluetooth, email, or whateve other method the phone is capable of but I did not see this option while using it. It's either absent or it's hard to find, in which case the app has an interface problem.
However, the app still leaves me impressed. X-Plore is a great way to look at an Android's file system and its many added features are solid bonuses. Some of the quirks indicate that the app may need further tweaking, so while X-Plore is not an Editor's Choice pick, it easily deserves four out of five stars.?

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) ? President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron saw a huge comeback.
Had they stuck around a little longer, they could have watched the biggest one in NCAA tournament history.
Noah Hartsock scored 16 of his 23 points in the second half and the Cougars came back from 25 points down to beat Iona 78-72 in the first round Tuesday night.
It marked the biggest comeback in an NCAA tournament game, the NCAA said. Previously, the largest deficit overcome was 22 points when Duke fought back to beat Maryland 95-84 in the 2001 national semifinals.
Hartsock was a little hurt that the president wasn't around to see the fireworks in the nightcap.
"I started looking around and didn't see him," Hartsock said with a grin. "But I'm sure he had some important things to take care of."
It was the second incredible turnaround of the night in Dayton. With the two heads of state watching from front-row seats on the baseline, Western Kentucky came back from a 16-point deficit in the final 5 minutes to beat Mississippi Valley State 59-58 in the first game.
That was the biggest margin overcome by a team in the final 5 minutes to win an NCAA tournament game, the NCAA said.
No matter how far they fell behind, BYU and coach Dave Rose had faith that the Cougars could somehow come back.
"Coming back from 25 points down is really satisfying now that we've won. At the time it wasn't that satisfying being down 25," he joked. "But I don't think that any of us, especially the coaching staff or our players, doubted the fact that we could chip into that lead."
Brandon Davies added 18 points and Damarcus Harrison 12 for the 14th-seeded Cougars (26-8), who advanced to play third-seeded Marquette on Thursday in Louisville, Ky.
There was no consolation for Iona.
"It's going to be one that we have to live with the rest of our lives," Gaels coach Tim Cluess said. "It's a tough one we let get away. No excuses."
Iona (25-8) seemed assured of its first official NCAA tournament victory after dominating the first half. But despite 15 points and 10 assists by Scott Machado, the Gaels dropped to 0-8 in NCAA play. Their lone win in 1980 was vacated due to NCAA violations.
Iona came in as the nation's top-scoring team at 83.2 points per game and didn't disappoint ? at least in the opening 16 minutes. The Gaels scored 55 points in an eye-popping display of passing wizardry and outside shooting. Then they didn't score over the final 4:30 of the first half.
BYU then took control, slowly but surely. The Cougars held the Gaels without a point for 9:20 in a 17-0 run to narrow the deficit to 62-61 midway through the second half. BYU made up ground with a trapping half-court defense that forced the Gaels out of their hurry-up-and-shoot-3s attack. At the other end, the Cougars were getting buckets from Hartsock on fallaway jumpers.
"We just were more aggressive," Cougars guard Brock Zylstra said. "We were doing to them what they were doing to us in the first half."
Iona scored 55 points in the first 16 minutes, then managed just three field goals and seven points over the next 16? minutes.
Jermel Jenkins ended the lengthy drought with a 3 from the left corner with 8 minutes left.
From there on, the teams traded baskets as the pace slowed. Machado's three-point play pushed the lead to 70-64 with 5 minutes remaining before Hartsock hit an outside shot. After two missed foul shots by the Gaels, he hit another short turnaround jumper to cut the lead to two.
With 2:26 left, Hartsock popped out on the right wing to hit a go-ahead 3. It was the Cougars' first lead of the game.
"This is a team that's worked hard all year, that's never given up," Hartsock said.
Davies added two free throws in the final minute before Zylstra scored in transition and turned it into a three-point play, and the comeback was complete.
It was a shocking turn of events because of how well the Gaels ? who also got 13 points from Jenkins, 12 from Mike Glover and 10 by Sean Armand ? started out.
"You're looking for answers out there, looking for guys to make a play," Cluess said. "Their good player is drilling it with guys in his face and guys draped all over him. Big-time players have to make big-time plays."
Rose, a co-captain for the old Phi Slamma Jamma teams at Houston, has tasted disappointment before. But not this night.
During a timeout in the middle of the comeback, he saw something he'll never forget.
"The look in our players' eyes at that time was, 'Game on. We've got a chance here,'" Rose said. "And we were able to finish it off."

'SXSW, you're welcome!' MC tells crowd of 2,800 before performing favorites like '99 Problems' and 'Dirt Off Your Shoulder.'

AUSTIN, Texas — If Jay-Z fans thought his appearance at last year's South by Southwest Music Festival was a big deal, his first-ever solo performance at Austin City Limits Moody Theater on Monday night (March 12) was the opener to end all opening events, and bodes well for the action-packed week of events to come.
Officially entitled the "Amex Sync Show Presenting Jay-Z," fans around the world were able to take part in the show via its livestream in conjunction with a new Twitter initiative for American Express cardholders. MTV News was lucky enough to score tickets to the highly anticipated event.
Jay took the stage shortly after 7:30 p.m. CT, dressed casually except for the gold bling around his neck and wrist, opening with "What More Can I Say?"
"SXSW, you're welcome!" he shouted to a very diverse and enthusiastic crowd of 2,800. This was followed by familiar favorite "Dirt Off Your Shoulder," which featured the first of countless crowd sing-alongs.
As his most dedicated fans have come to expect, the man showcased his serious lyrical skills with a perfect mix of hits new and old. From "99 Problems," to "Big Pimpin'," to "Excuse Me Miss" (at the start of which he asked us all to "two step") to the sweet and sentimental "Glory," Jay kept the crowd hanging on his every word, manipulating our energy masterfully with mostly up-tempo tracks that kept everyone on their feet.
Ever the perfectionist, if Jay stumbled on a word or two in a track or didn't feel like he was totally on point, he would stop mid-song and re-start, for which he had the crowd's undying support.
"I don't f--- around with the words to my songs, y'all. You came to see a live show right?"
In addition to totally rocking the house, Jay seemed to be genuinely having a great time onstage. There were several times during the nearly 90-minute set when we saw him break out into full-on grins.
"I'm having a good time tonight I must say," he told the crowd and then later showed his fans respect by acknowledging their energy. "Y'all going to make me crawl away from here tonight," he said just before busting into "Encore."
There were diamonds in the sky in Austin Monday night for sure.

BILOXI, Miss. - Rick Santorum said today that if a U.S. soldier shot and killed 16 civilians, as U.S. officials have suggested, then the Afghan people deserve an apology.
After an energy conference here, Santorum told reporters that the incident needs to be investigated further,?calling it a "horrible situation."
"If it turns out to be the case that this person did a horrible wrong and it was a deliberate act, a deliberate act by an American soldier and that is something we should clearly say was something that we should apologize for," Santorum said. "That it's not a mistake, it wasn't something that was inadvertent. This was something that was deliberately done by an American soldier to innocent civilians. It's something that the proper authorities should apologize for, for not doing their job in making sure that something like this wouldn't happen, something like this should not happen in our military period."
Santorum has repeatedly condemned President Obama for "apologizing" for America, including most recently the apology the president offered Afghans for the accidental burning of Qurans by U.S.?soldiers. The burning caused riots in the country.
The former Pennsylvania senator?said earlier today that the president's 2014 withdrawal timeline for Afghanistan made a "winnable operation very, very difficult." The timeline was actually set by NATO leaders in November 2010.
The pace of the withdrawal will depend on several factors but Obama spokesman Jay Carney would not comment today on whether Sunday's shooting was among them.
Obama called Afghan President Hamid Karzai Sunday to offer condolences to the Afghan people, according to a statement from the White House. He also pledged to investigate the incident and "hold fully accountable anyone responsible."
On election matters, the Santorum campaign released a delegate memo a day before Mississippi and Alabama vote that basically amounted to a rebuttal of the Romney campaign's argument last week that the nomination was all locked up and that Santorum needed 65 percent of the delegates in each contest going forward. In Biloxi, Miss., Santorum stressed that it will be "difficult" for any of the candidates to get to that 1,144 number.
"I think you've been listening to math class and delegate math class instead of looking at the reality of the situation," Santorum told reporters. "The reality of the situation is that ? it's going to be very difficult for anyone to get to the number of delegates that is necessary to win with the majority at the convention. I think that's what the math is pretty much showing."
He admitted that the race for this state and Alabama, which also votes Tuesday, will be "tough." The race is tight? among Santorum, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich in both states, according to several polls. The candidate said he's been "playing catch-up" here because the other campaigns have "been running ads longer" and campaigning here more than he has.
Santorum had a significant financial disadvantage over his opponents at the beginning of the primary, especially Romney.? But that is no longer the case.? The campaign raised $9 million to Romney's $11.5 million in February and he has a super PAC working on his behalf as well.
A slimmed-down campaign with less of the trappings of a traditional one, including spending less money on advertising and a smaller team, is a hallmark of their operation. Santorum? told voters here and in Alabama that if they want a "conservative nominee" they should "make it a two-person race," making it clear he thinks if he is the victor in these Southern states, it will edge Newt Gingrich permanently out of the running.
"Clearly, if we are successful here, it can have a very, very positive effect," Santorum said. "People of Mississippi and Alabama want a conservative, for sure. They want to elect a conservative nominee. I think we're going to get one either way. But if they want a conservative nominee for sure, they can do that by lining up behind us and making this race clearly a two-person race outside of the South, which it already is, but it can make it even more demonstrative."
Santorum jabbed the president during his address at the Gulf Coast energy summit,? calling opposition to offshore drilling and increased regulation of oil production here "politicization of science."
This region was devastated financially and environmentally by the 2010 Gulf oil spill. He also called climate change "politicization," and while he believes the "earth does warm, the earth does cool," it's because "it always has, it always will.
"The idea that one particular factor is the driving force behind it that would cause cataclysmic effects is unscientific and therefore we're not going to support any type of dramatic and vague changes to our laws that even those who support those changes will tell you is not going to have any impact on the so-called man made global warming," Santorum said. "So this is simply folly, folly in the sense that putting forth proposals that don't even solve the problems that they say that exist, which is speculative at best."
He said he could point reporters to "a whole host" of sources and scientists to back up his claims.

U.S. Adm. James Stavridis at a news conference at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, in October.
By msnbc.com staff and news services
Spies opened a bogus Facebook account for U.S. Adm. James Stavridis, NATO's supreme allied commander, and tricked senior British officers and defense officials into "friending" it, allowing access to private email addresses, phone numbers and photos, the Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported on its website.
The Observer newspaper said there had been multiple such attacks aimed at Stavridis, and the Sunday Telegraph said military officers and diplomats were told the evidence pointed to "state-sponsored individuals in China."
Stavridis was in charge of operations in Libya to end Moammar Gadhafi's regime and leads American forces in Europe.
The Telegraph said NATO had advised senior officers and officials to open their own social networking accounts to prevent a repeat. The Telegraph said Stavridis now has an official Facebook account and the bogus one has been deleted.
The Telegraph said that while genuine military secrets were unlikely to have been stolen, the incident was an embarrassment. And the paper pointed out that personal details that the officers who were tricked posted on Facebook could be a trove for intelligence agents.
The incident occurred late last year, the newspaper said, and NATO officials had confirmed the incident on Saturday. The NATO officials would not comment on the source of the attacks.

But concerns are growing about Chinese cyberwarfare. A report delivered to Congress said China's cyberwarfare would pose a genuine risk to the U.S. military in a conflict, for instance over Taiwan or disputes in the South China Sea.
Operations against computer networks have become fundamental to Beijing's military and national development strategies over the past decade, said the 136-page analysis by Northrop Grumman Corp. It was released on Thursday by the congressionally created U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.
The report, based on publicly available information, said Chinese commercial firms, bolstered by foreign partners, are giving the military access to cutting-edge research and technology.
The military's close ties to large Chinese telecommunications firms create a path for state-sponsored penetrations of supply networks for electronics used by the U.S. military, government and private industry, the report added.
That has the potential to cause a "catastrophic failure of systems and networks supporting critical infrastructure for national security or public safety," according to the study.
Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, without referring to the report, said Thursday that he was not even "remotely satisfied" with U.S. ability to deal with cyberwarfare.

While researchers continue to work on a cure for diabetes, following these tips can help you achieve wellness regardless of your condition. There are many natural steps you can take to help manage your diabetes. This article discusses some of the natural herbs and supplements you should consider adding to your diet in addition to your current plan.
Nutrition
Learning to read the nutrition data on food labels is key to eating the right diet for your Diabetes. Keep track of how much carbohydrates, sodium, sugar, fat, protein, and fiber are in each food you eat and try to only choose those which will keep your weight in check.
Technically, for diabetics, no specific foods are completely off limits. That being said, it is important to eat problem foods in moderation and know exactly what you are eating. Pay attention to nutrition labels and be sure to compensate for what you?ve eaten by cutting back on something else or exercising.
Want a tasty treat that won?t be forbidden by your doctor due to your Diabetes? Try nachos! Use a low fat cheese, low fat sour cream, homemade guacamole, and salsa, and you?ll be getting a ton of nutrition with a burst of flavor. If you add some beans to the salsa you?ll have an even healthier snack!
You can control, prevent, or even reverse diabetes just through nutrition, healthy weight levels and exercise. There is no need for special diets. Just try to eat a healthy diet concentrating on vegetables, whole grains, fruits and good fats. That?s a healthy diet for everyone!
Just like you?re able to buy generic diabetic prescriptions and stay healthy, generic food items can be just as good as their brand name counterparts. Saving money is important to everyone, especially when you?re on a relatively strict diet. If you?re going to buy the generic brand, compare the ingredient list and nutrition data to the brand name to make sure you?re getting the same quality.
Think about what you drink. Diabetics need to be careful of everything they ingest, so don?t forget to monitor the nutrition data and ingredients on the items your drinking. Juice, for example, is very high in sugar, so you should drink it in moderation. Milk can be high in fat, so stick to skim.
Most diabetics are significantly overweight, and this is injurious to your efforts at controlling the effects of diabetes. It is very important to try and have a consistently healthy eating plan in order to lose weight and maintain proper nutrition. Losing weight doubled with exercise can in some cases completely control the symptoms of diabetes. If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you simply must start dieting and exercising regularly.
If your spouse or partner is suffering from diabetes, one way to help and encourage a healthy lifestyle is exercising together. Exercise has been shown to reduce or help reverse the effects of diabetes. Encourage your partner to go on walks with you, or find a local gym where you can spend time together as well as getting healthy!
A Diabetic needs to have eight good hours of sleep every night to be well-rested, alert, and healthy. People who get enough sleep tend to be able to lose weight, probably because they have the energy to exercise and lack the apathy that can lead to less than healthy eating choices.
Gestational diabetes can be a dangerous complication of pregnancy. It causes high blood sugar and can affect your health as well as your baby?s. Luckily, gestational diabetes can be controlled by a healthy diet, exercise, and sometimes medication. It usually resolves itself after the baby is born.
Exercising could help drop your blood glucose levels. Depending on what exercise you are doing and the duration, you could burn glucose for up to twenty four hours after you finish exercising. You will use the glucose that you have stored in your liver as fuel after a long and hard exercise.
If you have diabetes, it is important that you understand how exercise can affect your blood glucose levels. Depending on the intensity and duration of your activity you can burn glucose for up to 24 hours after you exercise. This should change how you take care of your body.
For people with diabetes, it is important to check your glucose level after heavy exercise. Exercise can keep consuming glucose for up to 24 hours later, so it?s best to check your glucose level every 45 minutes or so after your workout to see if your glucose level is dropping or remaining stable.
As already covered above, diabetes does not have to be a horrible life sentence. It is manageable and usually only requires a few life style changes. By using the article above to educate yourself you may find that once you understand diabetes that you can manage it and it will not rule your life.
