Do you know someone who tackled hearing loss and accomplished a life goal? Don?t they deserve to be recognized? The HearStrong Foundation will shatter social stigmas and radically challenge the general perception of hearing loss in our society today by celebrating individuals who have not only faced hearing loss, but conquered it with a determined spirit, a focused mind and an unwavering heart.
Known as HearStrong Champions, these men, women and children are the cornerstone of the foundation, which is funded through the generosity of EarQ providers. People will nominate patients, friends, coworkers and family members who have refused to let hearing loss deter them from their goals to be named an official HearStrong Champion. Once selected by the foundation, champions will be celebrated in an official naming ceremony at their local provider?s office. By publicizing champions in local and national press, the foundation can empower the 80% of people with hearing loss who have yet to seek assistance and motivate them to take control of their hearing health.
?We want to show the highly active and vibrant men, women and children who overcome hearing loss every day,? said Ed Keller, president of The HearStrong Foundation.
?People need to know about the businesswoman who wears invisible hearing aids so she can discreetly hear her clients better, or the nine Olympic athletes who competed in the 2012 London games while wearing their athletically designed hearing devices, or the 4-year-old who loves to show off her pink hearing devices. HearStrong will break down stereotypes and show the humanity of hearing loss,? said Keller.
Roughly 36 million Americans suffer from hearing loss?and that number is on the rise. Recent studies have shown that one in five teenagers has hearing loss, as well as 60% of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. However, due to lack of education and negative connotations, many people choose to suffer in silence.
The HearStrong Foundation will change that view once and for all. ????

CAIRO (Reuters) - An Egyptian court dismissed cases against 379 people accused of involvement in clashes with police during protests near the Interior Ministry in November 2011 in which 42 demonstrators were killed, the state news agency reported.
Saturday's decision was based on President Mohamed Mursi's offer of an amnesty for those facing charges related to events during and after the 2011 uprising that ended the 30-year rule of Hosni Mubarak, the agency reported.
Cairo and other cities saw many violent protests against the army rulers who took over interim power after Mubarak was ousted on February 11, 2011.
Judge Gamal el-Din Safwat Roshdy, who presided over the Cairo criminal court, dismissed the cases against 379 suspects linked to clashes in Mohamed Mahmoud Street, the agency said.
The street, which lies next to Cairo's Tahrir Square and near the Interior Ministry, became a focus of violent protests in November 2011 by demonstrators who accused the ruling generals of employing the same heavy-handed police tactics as Mubarak.
The generals handed power to Mursi after he was elected president in June 2012.

The main concern for me is the weight because like everybody, we do hold it for long hours. I like it, but when it compare to my iPad 3, the retina display on iPad 3 really shines. But still, I believed this is the best 7-8 Inch screen tablet on earth at this point. But hey, this is for my wife anyways, I m keeping my iPad 3 for now.MSG to apple - u should have the option with Retina display, we don't mind pay a little more for it. I am sure this is the selling strategies that apple can "save" good step for their next iPad mini generation with the better screen. 11/26/2012

Stay in bed and stay warm.My only complaint is it is a bit pricey. I have had a lot of androids, BB Playbook, Samsung Gal Tab, Vizio, and others. Though not a fan of Apple or their attitude, I do like the operating system of the Touch and mini. Again at $329 it is a bit pricey but a well made product and over time I will over look the cost. 12/23/2012

CHICAGO (AP) ? Authorities have begun exhuming the body of a Chicago man who was poisoned with cyanide after winning the lottery.
Backhoes began digging at a Chicago cemetery Friday morning to exhume the body of Urooj (oo-ROOJ') Khan. The Cook County medical examiner plans to conduct another autopsy in an effort to figure out exactly how he died.
Khan died in July as he was about to collect $425,000 in lottery winnings. His death was initially ruled a result of natural causes, but a relative pressed for a deeper look.
Full toxicology results revealed in November that Khan was poisoned. His death was reclassified as a homicide.
Authorities hope a forensic autopsy will produce more evidence and tests on Khan's organs may determine whether the poison was swallowed, inhaled or injected.
